The Five Fishermen has just received the Wine Spectator designation for the fourth year running. Our sommelier, Avery Gavel, has recently returned from Italy, touring Tuscany and Umbria. Traveling to old world destinations steeped in history never diminishes the wonder of making history in our own back yard, especially in the wine world.
Avery was very eager to tell us about visiting Super Tuscan pioneer Sassicaia, in Bolgheri. Other highlights included: tasting at Frescobaldi, a cooking class at Antinori’s Michelin- rated restaurant in the heart of Chianti and hanging out in Sienna, Florence and Montepulciano.
As Chef Renee Lavallée continues to create local flavors from around the world, Avery pairs them with a global bounty of wines.
